Custom development
Soft Dev Oy takes custom development in three areas: web applications, mobile applications, and infrastructure and operations. Large projects only — systems, not websites. We do not take small sites, landing pages or one-off fixes.
02Areas
Three areas.
Web applications
A web application is a system with server-side logic, integrations with external services and an administrative side — not a page with a contact form.
Mobile applications
A mobile application is a client for iOS and Android together with a backend that stores the data, grants the rights and serves both platforms.
Infrastructure and operations
Infrastructure and operations is the environment in which a system runs once it has been written: the domain, the servers, the containers, the mail, the backups and the monitoring. We build it from scratch and keep running it, rather than handing the client a list of instructions.
We take it both alongside development and as a separate task — when someone else wrote the system, or there is none yet but the infrastructure is needed.
- Domain and DNS — registration, zones, TLS certificates with automatic renewal
- Servers — sizing, deployment, separation of access
- Containers — Docker-based infrastructure, reproducible builds
- Orchestration — a K3s cluster, updates without downtime
- Mail — corporate mail on your own domain
- Operations — backups, monitoring, security updates
The systems run continuously and monitored. We accept enquiries around the clock and reply during working hours: Mon–Thu 9–16, Fri 9–15.
03The threshold
The threshold is qualitative, not financial.
We do not name a minimum budget. What matters is the type of task: whether it is a system or a website.
What we take
- A system with a development time of three months or more.
- Its own backend: its own database, its own logic, its own integrations.
- Roles and rights: different people see different things and can do different things.
- Integrations with the client's external systems or those of their partners.
- Development after launch, not a one-off delivery.
What we do not take
- Brochure sites and landing pages.
- Shops on off-the-shelf engines.
- Extending someone else's code when it is a rescue rather than development.
- Staff augmentation and selling teams.
- One-off fixes from a list.
04How this differs from the products
A product or development.
A product solves a typical task and costs a subscription. Development is needed where the task is not typical and no ready solution exists for it.
Often the answer is mixed: part is covered by a product, part is assembled from our agents, and the rest is written separately. We will say which of these fits you in our first reply — before we state a schedule and terms.
05Frequently asked questions
Do you take small projects?
No. We take systems, not websites: if the work fits into a few weeks and needs no backend of its own, it is not our kind of job. For such tasks a smaller supplier is the better choice — cheaper and faster for you.
What budget do you work from?
The threshold is not in money but in the type of task. We do not name a minimum sum: a system of three months or more, with a backend and roles, fits regardless of how its budget is counted. The price is stated after the analysis, together with the schedule and the scope.
Do you work with clients abroad?
Yes. The company is Finnish and registered in Mäntsälä; the clients are across Europe. The contract and the invoices come from Finland, and the invoice can be received electronically through an operator.
Will you extend an existing system?
Only if it is development rather than rescuing someone else's code. If the system is alive and needs extending — yes. If the task is to repair an abandoned project in an unknown state, we do not take it.
How does development differ from your products?
A product solves a typical task and costs a subscription. Development is needed for a system that is not typical. Often the right answer is mixed: part of the task is covered by a product, part is assembled from agents, and the rest is written separately.
06The basis
In ten years we have delivered more than 150 projects — from administrative systems to mobile applications. The names and areas are listed on the Company page.
The Axis Ordo platform was built by the same team that delivered these projects. We automate what we did by hand for ten years.
07Your task
Describe your task. We'll propose a solution.
Two or three lines is enough. Our first reply contains an analysis of your task and a proposal: an existing product, a construction from our agents, or a separate solution. Not a request for a call.
If your task can't be solved with our products, we'll say so in our first reply.
